Musician Matiu Te Huki channels his native Maori spirit & tradition into deep funky reggae grooves-weaving in traditional Maori rhythms.

Matiu, a master 'looper', creates ENORMOUS reggae baselines & beats, soulful roots music with a strong Maori flavor, using haka, chants and traditional Maori movements. ELECTRO- grooves, deep, beautifully crafted bass lines, funky rhythms and magical melodies held up by a pillar of Pacific passion & technical precision.

Matiu has over 20 years experience as a Maori language and performance teacher, he is a playwriter, International touring musician, facilitator, Maori cultural advisor for national organizations and leader amongst his own communities.

As a singer songwriter, the soul stirring messages in Matiu’s music are positive, inspiring and unifying.
