-Loveray- and Matiu Te Huki = A Fundraiser for Lara to goto the 2023 HipHop Dance Champs in Portugal
Lara has grasped the gift of life (the recipient of TWO liver transplants) and through her joy of Dance (Hiphop and Kpop) landed an invitation to represent NZ in the 2023 HipHop Champs held in Portugal in October.
Now it's our mission to FUNdraise to get her, her whanau and her Dance Team "Rangers" there and show the world what she can do.
Step in -Loveray- and friends, Matiu Te Huki, DJ Refraction and Lara's Dads band The Level, offering 2 magical nights of talented entertainment, and creative dancing after a shared Community Pot Luck Kai and a Sacred Cacao Ceremony.
-Loveray- perform a multi-instrumental Sound Healing Journey (known as a SoundBath) tuning into the Earth's love harmonic frequency of 432Hz, with exotic instruments including crystal singing bowls, flutes, violins, and sacred tribal instruments.
People are encouraged to lie down or get comfortable and relaxed and allow the sound vibrations to carry us on a mystical journey to the outer cosmos and back.
The -Loveray- set culminates with an invitation to rise up and move our bodies with an ecstatic dance vibe to tribal drums and funk rhythms.
Matiu Te Huki is a renowned Love Activist on tour traveling New Zealand sharing his medicine in the form of his 'huge sounding' 1 man band and his Haka and Masculine / Feminine relationship healing workshops.
We are so grateful Matiu can stop in mid-tour to contribute so generously to the Saturday Night event in Laingholm.
Also performing is Lara's devoted Dad in his new 3-piece band 'The Level'. Hamish comes from a very musical family no stranger to #1 hits in the NZ music scene.
And the night will pick up from where the live music takes us with infamous West Auckland's DJ Refraction (aka Kale Watsup ) keeping us on our toes and on the dance floor.
The artists above are donating their performances so the money raised will help Lara and her team be able to travel to compete in the 2023 Hiphop Champs in Portugal. Her Dream coming true!!
This is a one-of-a-kind special event happening over 2 nights in August 2023:
Friday 11Aug at the Titirangi Beach Hall (38 Titirangi Beach Road) and Sat 12Aug with Matiu Te Huki at the Laingholm Community Hall (69 Victory Road)
5:30pm Doors open
6pm Pot Luck Shared Kai (bring a plate to share)
7pm Sacred Cacao ceremony
7.30pm Sound Journey and Live Music and doors close at 11pm
Bring a yoga mat or comfy cushion - the heaters will be on so the Halls are super warm and cozy.
Quality Sound and Lights donated by Love Sound And Light.
See the Facebook Event Pages below for more information/discussions and the latest updates and news about these 2 events.
See you there!
From Lara:
"My name is Lara Sutherland, I’m 16 years old.
I love animals, helping others, writing and dancing.
I was diagnosed with a rare liver disease, Biliary Atresia when I was a 6 week old baby and became incredibly ill.
I was blessed with a liver transplant at 7 months old which aided me to be able to live a fuller life.
Unfortunately, I became sick again in 2013 and spent most of my time in the hospital up until I was gifted another liver transplant in 2016, when I was 9.
Ever since then I have been able to experience things that normal kids and teenagers would be able to experience and even found a deep passion for dancing.
I have come a long way from where I began and am proud to announce that I and my hip hop crew have been chosen to participate in world championships for hip hop in Portugal.
I’d really would love to attend but need help raising funds to get there, if you can offer help I would be so grateful."
From Samantha, Laras Mum:
"Beyond proud of my girl and her team Rangers, who qualified for Hip Hop Unite World Champs in Portugal this October!!! This gorgeous girl has overcome two liver transplants, multiple surgeries, years of hospital and daily ongoing pain, thru hard work, determination and most of all her love of dance (both kpop and hip hop). She just loves to perform and compete and dancing is the one thing that has kept her going through some really tough years.
We will be planning our fundraising because I’m not sure how we will afford this so if anyone has fundraising ideas (for team and for Lara) please let me know, if anyone wants to sponsor Lara personally or with their business, and if anyone knows of contact/temp work I can mostly do at home (I’m a bookkeeper, small business office management, website updates & optimisation but can do lots more) please hit me up with ideas! Thanks"
